right now at 11:00, wet, windy and warm out there. we're dealing with steady rain throughout the day and gusty winds as well as you can see. here's a live look at center city, philadelphia. a live look at the radar showing where the heaviest rain is falling at this moment. you'll need your rain gear and umbrellas throughout the day. and it's slow going out in many area roads because of the wet weath weather. a live look at the traffic along i-95 at the girard point bridge in south philadelphia. nbc 10 first alert chief meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz is here with that wet forecast. hey, glen. >> vai, yeah. it's wet already and it's just going to get wetter as the day goes on. we have a steady rain here that's in the pocono mountains

of late wallenpaupack and on the radar there's a lot of green there but it's generally on the lighter side. you can see it's moving from southwest to northeast and as we go in toward the philadelphia area you can see you get a burst of rain every once in a while but we do not have the heavy rain developing yet. we do expect some development around the washington, d.c. area as we go through the afternoon. this area down in north carolina looks like it's going to miss to the east. but the futurecast shows the generally lighter rain start to get heavier as we go through the afternoon. you see that development around washington and baltimore and that comes into our area during the afternoon rush for at least a portion of the area. maybe not so much of the jersey shore or southern delaware. but it comes through during the late afternoon and into the evening hours, maybe even with thunderstorms that would suggest thunderstorms this evening

toward the shore as we clear out in philadelphia and points to the west. temperatures, already 67 in philadelphia. the average high for this time of the year is 55. so it's mild. it's going to stay mild. even through the night tonight but it's very wet and pretty windy. more on the rain timing and how cold it will get in a few minutes over the weekend. the suspected organizer of the paris terror attacks is dead, that's according to the paris prosecutor's office. they say abdelhamid abaaoud died in yesterday's raid in an apartment in a paris suburb. he was identified by fingerprints. france's interior minister also revealed this morning that officials did not know abaaoud was in europe before the attack.

as nbc's keir simmons shows us, authorities stopped him as he was poised to strike again. >> abdelhamid abaaoud is believed by the french prosecutor to have been killed in the raids yesterday. he was 29 years ole. he was variously described as the mastermind, the linchpin, whatever word you use, he is the man that french authorities believe was behind the attack in paris, the massacre that killed 129 people. yesterday they raided that third floor apartment. two people were killed, a woman and a man. they were not able to identify the man because his body was so badly damaged by the fire fight so they had to use fingerprint identify diagnosis establish that it is, they believe, abaaoud. it's a very, very important development not least because the french believe that terror cell was planning another attack in paris and at the same time,

they will be stunned he managed to make his way to the center of europe. prior to that intelligence services across europe believe he was with isis in syria and that he perhaps planned this plot from there. instead it now appears he had managed to make his way right to this capital city of france and himself orchestrate those attacks. abdelhamid abaaoud french prosecutors say they believe killed in the raids and another attack on paris foiled. back to you. >> that is keir simmons reporting for us. we are seeing video of the attacks as they happened. surveillance camera was rolling inside a paris restaurant as attackers opened fire. the red circle in the video shows one of the attackers. he was about to shoot one woman but his gun jammed. and the lower house of the french parliament voted to extend a state of emergency for three months.

the vote would continue to grant police expanded powers to carry out arrests and searches and restrict the public's movement at certain times. the measure goes to the french senate tomorrow where it's likely to win approval. for updates on the terror in paris, just tap the nbc 10 news app or go to our web site at nbc10.com and keep it here as we continue to gather new details and new information and learn more about the raid that led to the killing of the alleged mastermind of the attacks. a group of airport workers are on strike at philadelphia international airport and those workers are set to meet mayor-elect jim kenney in less than an hour. nbc 10's monique braxton is live with more on what the workers are demanding. monique, what can you tell us? >> hey, vai. this is one of about a half dozen airports where workers have been on strike during the morning rush hour and they're set to come out again at lunchtime. they tell us they're protesting low wage, poor treatment and unfair labor practices.

>> six middle school students were cited for drinking alcohol. allentown police say the students were drinking vodka at the middle school. police were called to the school earlier this month to break up fights there. remember when this happened last month four allentown officers were hurt in fights at nearby william allen high school? the fight started between two girls and went viral on social media. about 200 students in all were involved and police in allentown have dealt with several violent incidents at schools recently. two weeks ago a student at a high school allegedly pushed a teacher down some bleachers during a pep rally. yesterday a charter school student allegedly punched a school bus driver and in nearby bethlehem police say nine liberty high school students were charged with fighting. and philadelphia police hope this new video will help them lead to a man who they say stole $37,000 worth of items from a home. authorities say the burglar got in through a rear window of the

home in olney some time during the day on tuesday. he spent about 20 minutes inside the home gathering computers, watches, cameras and jewelry in a basket and then he walked out the front door. crews in philadelphia put out a fire on the roof of an applebee's restaurant on city avenue. everyone got out safely. officials are looking for the cause of the fire. and everyone is back inside a recycling plant in gray's ferry after philadelphia police checked out a suspicious device and found it was a fake rocket roe pelled grenade. skyforce 10 flew over the scene at gray's ferry avenue. no one was hurt. happening today, the secret service agent accused of sexting an underaged girl while on duty has a court hearing in delaware. lee robert moore is due in federal court in wilmington this afternoon. he's accused of soliciting

someone he thought was a 14-year-old girl. the prosecutors say he sent lewd photos of himself and they say some of the sexting occurred while he was working at the white house. it turned out he was chatting online with a delaware state police detective. he is currently suspended from duty. feeding the parking meter? there's now an app for that. starting today the new app to pay for parking goes live in parts of philadelphia and it's called meter up. here's how it works. no more searching for change. you just click on the app on your phone and follow the instructions to pay for parking and when your meter is about to run out you get an alert and you can reload from your phone wherever you're located. it will only be working in four zones for now. it will run along columbus boulevard from spring garden to race street and the ppa's eighth

happening now, the u.s. house is considering a bill to bolster background checks on syrian refugees coming to america. here's a live look now at the house floor. the legislation would require syrian and iraqi refugees to go through additional fbi checks before being allowed into the country. the bill doesn't contain a religious check for refugees. the white house is threatening to veto the bill. terrorism experts are examining claims by isis that it took down that russian passenger plane last month with a bomb packed inside a soda can. the picture of the bomb or the purported bomb was published in

the terror group's online propaganda magazine. it was disguised inside a soda can and the magazine says the bomb was smuggled on the plane after isis discovered a way to compromise airport security. the photo has not been verified by nbc news but experts say a bomb that small could do a lot of damage. >> if the bomb was real, the can would have to be packed with an efficient explosive. it could be any kind of explosive but the more reliable, the more efficient it would be, for example a military type explosive. >> here in the u.s. experts say a soda can would likely not get passed a tsa checkpoint but the biggest potential security gap exists in catering carts and cargo that are not always 100% screened. a bomb threat forces a flight to egypt to make an emergency landing. the airplane was heading from warsaw, poland, when it was diverted to bulgaria. small planet airlines says a passenger said something to the crew about the explosive he might be carrying.

they say he later admitted it was a joke. no bomb was found. the airline was set to put the passengers on another plane so that they could complete their journey. former subway spokesman jared fogel officially pleaded guilty to child pornography and sex crime charges and now he's awaiting the judge's sentences. f fogle agreed to the plea deal in august. he admitted to paying for sex with girls as young as 16 years of age as well as receiving child pornography by the director of the jared foundation. prosecutors are seeking a 12 year sentence while fogel's attorney have asked for five years. in western pennsylvania, a stolen school bus crashed into a store. they say a thief crashed the bus through the gate then the bus went through the side of a vitamin shop in monroeville just after 3:00 a.m.

police are investigating what led to the crash. they haven't said if anyone was hurt or what charges the thief might face. and some georgia residents are cleaning up this morning after strong storms and possibly a tornado that tore through their town last night. the winds knocked down trees, it damaged homes and caused power outages. police have no reports of anyone getting hurt. kinds of a damp day out there but it's exceptionally warm for this time of the year, especially considering no sunshine. and we have a rainy afternoon rush on the way and heavier rain than what we're seeing now. we have colder weather coming in over the weekend and we'll have a look into at least the portion of thanksgiving week, see if the coal air disappears. the winds are not disappearing, coming in pretty strong out of the east to southeast.

south wind at 13 miles an hour gusting up to 21 miles an hour. 67 degrees. the average high is 55. it's even 63 in allentown. 64 in trenton. 66 in mount holly and glassboro. 65 atlantic city international so you can see the temperatures are pretty high everywhere for this time of the year. remember, we're past the middle of november. now, by the time we get ready for sunday for the maur on thras on the chilly side. not too bad. then later on during the mourning we're talking about partly cloudy skies and temperatures getting into the 40s. later in the day for the eagles we might be seeing more clouds. it's going to be windy and colder than what we're used to seeing. it will feel like it's in the 30s and the wind cowl affect the kicking and passing games so it will be a colder game than what

we saw this past sunday. you can see radar is mostly light green but there's more back to the west in virginia. some of this stuff is headed towards washington and later coming up towards the philadelphia area. a so watch what's happening in the futurecast. it's rain and very warm. by 4:00 we see the increase, maybe heavier cells in the area. then 5:00, middle of the afternoon rush we're talking about fair amount of moderate to heavy rain. maybe even thunderstorms and that is going to slow things down if that happens. 7:00 still that threat that starts to move into new jersey as we're drying out from the

west but look at the temperatures. it's still mighty mild through the night tonight so you won't need any kind of heavy coat until tomorrow. at 11:00 tonight it's just exiting the jersey shore. then as we go into tomorrow morning we're down in the 40s and we don't really climb a whole lot during the day tomorrow. by noontime still into the 40s north and west and some places don't even get out of the 40s. now, how much rain falls? by the time this is all over with, the latest computer models showing around an inch of rain. possibly locally heavier in new jersey if some thunderstorms develop. for the rest of the day today we expect those southerly winds to continue and it's going to continue to be mild. mid to upper 60s. a rainy day but it becomes heavier late in the day and this

getting away from the ravage of war. >> yes. >> the music that both of you are a part of, it's not just -- there's more to it than just the mus music, right? there's a message and it's related to domestic violence. tell me why. >> three years ago we were in the streets of philadelphia to talk to liberians that live in philly to see -- to know how they are living in philly. while doing this interview we realize add lot of women are having problems in their homes with their children, with their husband and we went back to the philadelphia project that is sponsoring everything that we're doing. we went to them and told them, look, we don't have the money to do our awareness so we want you people to help us and they came on board.

they asked what we wanted to do. we showed the kids what we have gotten from the streets. >> is your message specific to other liberians? is it an issue in the liberian community or more general to everybody who suffers from domestic abuse? >> it's actually a general program that we're doing but we are specific to our liberian women because we know they are holding on to so many things and we are telling name it's okay, you can open up and speak out. >> tell me what your experience has been being a part of the choir. >> well i have been a part of the liberian women chorale for change. we started last year. i love it. my experience with the group has

southwest. steady in the pocono mountains and parts of berks county but we're not seeing yellows or reds indicating heavier rain. we see some indication of development in virginia and that is what is going to be lead to the increase in intensity here during the afternoon. that's what our computer models continue to suggest. there's washington, d.c. around 2:00 it's raining but the heavier rain gets closer towards afternoon rush and some of this this on the heavy side we're looking hour by hour and that's a large area of moderate to heavy rain. it won't stay that way for hours. so no serious flooding but the timing isn't great.

during the afternoon hours we see the jersey shore as we're clearing to the west. temperatures are high for this time of the day. 67 in philadelphia. the average high temperature is only 55 so it's 55 in the poconos obviously it's going to be a warm windy and wet day. temperatures in the 60s even through the evening hours. colder air on the way as well as the look towards thanksgiving week with the seven day in a few minutes. the paris prosecutor confirms the suspected ringleader of the paris terror attacks was among those killed in yesterday's police raid. they say abdelhamid abaaoud's bullet riddled body was identified by fingerprints. authorities attacked the jihadist to an apartment in the paris suburb of st. denis where the raid happened. france's interior minister revealed officials did not know abaaoud was in europe before the

attack. this morning we are seeing video of the attacks as they happened in realtime. a surveillance camera camping this scene inside the paris restaurant as attackers opened fire. you can see people ducking for cover and the circle shows one of the attackers about to shoot one woman but his gun jammed possibly saving her life. meanwhile, the lower house of the french parliament voted to extend a state of emergency for three months. the move would grant police expanded powers to carry out arrest and restrict the public's movement at certain times. the measure goes to the french senate where it's likely to win approval. officials in southern france are hunting for three men who stabbed a teacher who works at a jewish school. the marseilles prosecutors say one of the three men was wearing an isis t-shirt. police say the men shouted anti-semitic insults at the

history teacher and stabbed him in the arm and leg. the victim is expected to be okay. a warning from the u.s. state department leads the vatican to step up their security. u.s. officials say st. peter's basilica could be a pa potential target for attackers. they said sites such as the opera house as well as the general venues like churches, synagogues, restaurants, theaters and hotels could come under threat. some 700 soldiers are being deployed in rome for security. officials in new york city say they will not be intimidated by an isis propaganda video that features images of times square. nbc's stephanie goss has more on the threat by the group. >> reporter: hours after isis released a new propaganda video using images of times square police commissioner bill bratton stood in the square and held a late night press conference. >> we can not be intimidated and

that's what terrorists seek to do. >> reporter: the nearly five-minute isis video looks hastily put together, not nearly as polished as past propaganda. an apparent attempt to take advantage of the wake of the paris attacks and inspire suicide bombers. the video shows belts and a corps bomb. nbc news has chosen not to show all of the images. a child congratulates the attackers from france and vow mrs. violence to come. followed by those images of times square, a direct warning to new york city. just days after a similar warning to washington, d.c. homeland security reports that there are 900 active investigations into homegrown extremists spanning every state in the country. the vast majority connected to isis. in just over a year in new york the nypd says it has thwarted three plots inspied by the terror group.

one of several similar strikes organized at airports around the country. nbc 10's monique braxton is live at the airport where those workers are getting set to meet the mayor-elect. so they have the attention of the mayor-elect. >> and they're joyful this morning, vai, because they know the mayor elect is supportive of unions here in this town like so many thousands of other people are. i can tell you the demonstration set to start here in a couple minutes is part of a national concerted effort at six airports across the country. since july 1, the subcontractors you see here were supposed to be paid $12 per hour. it was part of a living wayne wage increase approved by voters in 2015. but some only make 7.75 per hour. they tell us low wages and what they call poor treatment and unfair lib practices. the hundreds on camera we captured this morning walking

personal vehicle at a downtown police department parking lot. several people have been detained but no one is under arrest. investigators haven't said if he was targeted for personal reasons or because he was a police officer. in decision 2016 democratic front-runner hillary clinton is outlining the steps she would take to stop isis. she spoke to the council on foreign relation this is morning in new york. she said the u.s. has to stop the momentum of isis in ear ya and iraq while pursuing a comprehensive anti-terror strategy. in addition to more air strikes, mrs. clinton says the u.s. needs to encourage iraq to arm surnies and kurds to fight isis on the ground. mrs. clinton's main opponent, senator bernie sanders, is set to gave a major speech this afternoon. he is set to explain his believes in democratic socialism and talk what about the world community can do to defeat the islamic state. if you're an early riser you

at 13 miles an hour gusting to 21 and we're nine degrees warmer than this time yesterday. what about weather threats today? the threat of flooding not very high because it's not going to last long enough or be heavy enough, maybe localized street flooding where leaves are clogging drains. some threat of lightning but not a high one, so we're talking about pretty much a rainy day with locally heavy rain later. it's a warm day for this time of the year. 67 in philadelphia. 66 in millville. even 55 in mount pocono. so there's the rain generally on the light side, the lighter green is the lightest rain. we have a bit of a break and this other area developing in central virginia is the area that i'm watching for this afternoon you can see it's been

increasing going up rapidly north of richmond, heading towards washington, d.c. next. we'll see what computer models have to say. 1:00 in the afternoon, still not all that much. down the south and west we have widespread rain but look what happened through the afternoon. that area in central virginia blossoms, gets heavier and then comes up into the area as we go through the afternoon rush. less rain in extreme south jersey and southern delaware but some of that heavy rain will come across those areas as well. and by 7:00 we're starting to clear from reading westward and look at that. by 10:00 it's clear west of pottstown but heavy rain towards cape may so big differences in weather conditions this evening.

then everybody clears out overnight tonight. it's a cooler day tomorrow. look at temperatures toward the afternoon. still in the 40s north and west, so even with sunshine we'll have a significantly different type of day. we showed you one computer model and how much rain is likely to fall. this shows a half inch to an inch in general, local spots will perhaps get more. everybody is getting this surge of colder air coming in on sunday and lasting through monday and into monday night but it starts easing up on tuesday and by wednesday milder air is starting to come in so it won't stay that chilly all the way through next week so we have rainy and mild conditions becoming heavier late in the day, maybe a thunderstorm in a couple spots, remember it will be windy, seven day forecast sunny and not warming up a whole
